Warranty climate?

What's the warranty claims climate now with the GM bailout problem?

Basically, I have

Decal laminate problem (water in the rear bow-tie)

Headliner is making noise (velcro/glue is loose and shakes)

Steering wheel is a bit creaky, it creaks when force is applied such as 10-2 driving and when making turns (never heard that in a car before, not even my S-10... is this a problem others have?)

I am having a few issues fixed before my warranty runs out and the dealership in my area has been great.

I've got an issue with the wheels on my 2006 Spring Edition that is being denied warranty!

On the inside of each rim there are corrosion blisters under the chrome, which I expect will end up with the chrome pealing off. Because it is a cosmetic issue (their words) they won't cover it. The wheels have been taken off each winter since new so they have a lot less mileage than the vehicle which is now off warranty.

Apparently coverage is either granted or not by the District Manager and Customer Service has closed the file as dissatisfied (today).

At the dealership, one of the advisor's mentioned he had seen similar problems with Corvette, Impala and other rims, and the rims on my 99 Denali are pealing in sheets. At least the Denali rims were used in the winter. Anyone else have this problem?

I sanded down the cracks on my bow ties and painted them with gold spray paint. They look fine.

I have heard a few with this problem with the chrome or polished wheels. But if you are out of warranty for mileage (reguardless if they have less miles for winter removal), not much they have to do for it. But you could always call GM customer service and see if they can help.

I just went out of warranty last week, after I took the wheels in (2 weeks ago), Customer service was no help ... seems the District Manager has the final say.

One reason I wont get chrome wheels again. My Buick chrome wheels delaminated and were a continual problem with leaky tires. I replace two of the wheels from ones in a "junk yard" at $200 a pop for used ones. I was out of warrenty.

My HHR has the stock silver painted rims which look very good. I don't think GM does a very good job at chroming rims.

I had the same thing on my GP wheels on the inside and the dealer replaced them with no issues.

I have seen people take Rust Bullet or Por-15 and paint the inside of the wheel to make a hard surface to protect them. My new wheels had a different coating on them and it has held up better.
