I firmly believe that being loyal to a local dealer will get you very far in situations like this. My local dealer goes out of there way to make sure any problems are taken care of with no cost to me whenever possible and has never pulled the "modified" BS with me.

You have so many options for where to go for your next car that they are being very foolish to not do everything they can to make you happy. Personally, if that service call cost me anything I would be going to Ford for my next car. "Blue Antenna", what a bunch of F*headed morons.

I took the chiklets off- they could say "That's not a GM car, it doesn't say GM on it!"

Dealer "X" is where I bought the car, a little over a year ago. Safe to say that I won't even step foot on their lot again.

I think after the fiasco with the first dealer, and GM customer assistance, and finally the GM rep. getting into the mix, that my warranty got blocked[on the GM black list] for any warranty work. I think the dealer[where I bought the car] would have at least found the noise, until they checked the database. I probably ended up shooting myself in the foot on this. Oh well...open mouth insert both feet. "Moon"

Thank God I used GM mud flaps. They will not hurt my engine.

Boy, at least I have no warranty to worry about. My 3 yr/36,000 mile was done at 2.5 years. At year 5 now and the only real issue was the thermostat and they fixed that free at 38,000 miles.

Same thing happened to me shortly after I bought mine a few years ago. I was having issues with the radio. They told me it was because I changed out the speakers. I took it as far as the GM rep and showed them that is was physically impossible for what they said caused the tissue tot be the source. I tried to go to another dealer and was told that, for that issue, I was in the system as being unable to have that work done under warranty. My complete warranty was NOT voided. Also was told that my only other option would be to go to a dealer out of the GM reps area.

So I would think for this issue you are screwed, but should be ok for other warranty issues.

This really is nothing new. Back in 1979 I bought a Plymouth Horizon TC3 and the battery developed a leak. The service manager tried to tell me the battery was leaking because I put fog lights on the car.

When I told him I worked in electronics for a living, and not only was that impossible, but downright insulting, he told me they would not even look at my car.

I went to my salesman, reminded him how many cars my family bought from him, and magically my car got a new battery.....

The dealers aren't dealing with cars and maybe GM isn't reimbursing them for warrenty work or the dealers want you to pay, then submit the warrenty work back to GM also. I take my car to an independent mechanic (ACS certified) for most of my work.
