On my kids 2008 HHR LS he said he noticed that the blower moter makes a different pitched sound when he turns left. Sounded strange but yes it does sometimes. I noticed some water droplets coming out of the vents with the blower going.

From what I have read it cold be two things.
1. AC drain plug
2. Some kind of leak from the outside under the windshield cowl.

I looked at the floor on passenger side and see zero water. I pulled the glove box air filter and it was dry as a bone.

I looked at the cowl and notice a 3 inch gap where it meets the windshield right in front of the drivers side. Rain would just run down to the area that it goes anyway so I am not sure that is a bad thing. But I did see some leaves under the cowl on the corner near the drivers side door. Thought that might be a drain for water when raining, not sure on that.

So I'm wondering if the cabin filter is dry how can water get into the blower motor? I'm not sure if any water is in it but the water drops are coming from someplace
and the fan does make a different sound when turning corners.

Makes no sense to me. Anyone have a clue?

 

THe year of your HHR would be helpful, since some changes were made in that area.

 

 

The water droplets are coming from the evaporator drain tray being full.

Thanks, but if this tray was full how is the wet droplets making its way past the glove box air filter and into the vents? I would think the air filter would be soaking wet but its not.

 

The air doesn't blow in that direction. The filter is before the air enters the evaporator box and then goes to the vents.
(same way a home AC filter works.)

 

LOL you assume I know jack about home or auto AC. I know the on off switch and when the air is cold :)

Yes I thought or assumed (when ever I assume i'm wrong) that the filter was last in line.

So now I have to jack up car and look for a tiny hose under it and blow it out with air?

 

You could, but it would be easier to just open the hood and look for the rubber tube hanging out of the firewall on the passenger side.
