Unhappy Water passenger front. I have searched this forum, please help

2006 HHR LT.

Water in front passeger side area. It could have been rain, it could have been the AC.

Found very very wet carpet yesterday and ever more water today. I pulled up carpet it was a tiny damp, but the carpet itself was drenched. I pulled up the rubber like "barrier" that would be where the passegers feet would go, and it was dry, only wet at the bottom where the barrier and the carpet meet.

I have looked at the blower motor and the cabin air filter as suggested by the forum and it was bone dry. I do not have a roof rack and I dont have a sun/moon roof.

It looked dry in the area where the door is mounted to the car.

Basically it was dry everywhere with the exception of the floor carpet area.

Tried searching the forum for other ideas as to what happened.

Thank you

Must be the weekend for leaks, give these two threads a read, the first is on the butyl rubber patch in the cowl of early HHR's that leaks, the second is on a blocked condensate drain.

843de, thank you...

When I went back outside the neighbor took a hose to the window and it started to leak through... so perhaps it is the butyl rubber patch.. the investigation continues....

Had it happen on mine, the patch was replaced, and it stopped leaking.

Really sorry to hear about this water leak. I can do some research and see what options you may have available. Could you please private message me your name, address, vehicle identification number, and current mileage.

Hi Al, I joined the forums yesterday because, guess what, since last friday I've had water puddling on the passenger front footwell during rainstorms ('06 HHR LT), and a google search led me right here.

When your neighbour squirted the car with a hose, where exactly did you see the water coming in? last night as I was driving, (after I'd stopped at a car wash and vacuumed the water out for the 3rd time) I could see the water spreading thru the carpet from the outside doorjam inwards. is that about what you saw?

I'm going to poull the cowl cover and check the rubber patch after work today.

Water coming in passenger side floorboard

Water coming in passenger side floorboard soaking floor area. It was a clogged AC drain tube. I took it to Jiffy Lube. They unclogged the hose for free. I could not reach the drain tube myself, as it is located on the front firewall-closer to the passenger side front tire. I went on U-Tube and looked up AC drain tube location for Chevy HHR and found a picture of the location. Then, sure enough, I was able to locate the drain tube. It did not come out underneath but was located up higher on the firewall. I could see it from the top looking down into (actually behind) the engine compartment. However, I could not reach it from any direction. My local Jiffy Lube unclogged the hose for free! What a relief to get this problem fixed! Every time I made a hard left turn the water would pour into the passenger's side floor. If I had the fan on in the cab sometimes little water drops would also blow in my face. Once Jiffy Lube unclogged the drain hose, water came gushing out from underneath, where it's supposed to leak out! Hopefully, this will not be an issue again. But if it does do it again, at least I'll know what to do. I am told this is a fairly common problem.
