Saw another post talking about a similar problem.

https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/showthread.php?t=30278

They then linked to
https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/brakes-%7C-suspension-%7C-shocks-%7C-struts-24/moog-end-link-grease-nipple-fittings-29505/

and talking about Moog End links.

Could this be the fix we are looking for?

Mine just got back from the dealer and they also replaced both links under warranty and no noise.

How many miles are your originals lasting folks? Can the originals be lubricated somehow to extend their life? (I realize they have no fittings for that). Think cold temps impact their life?

Mine went at 27,000 miles. They replaced both but I only heard the noise on the driver's side.

Rough roads in the winters here and also a lot of roads freshly grated over the past year with all the repavements, etc.

So was it covered by the 3/36,000 warranty or was it part of the 5/100,000 powertrain? Because yours is a 2008. I have a 2007 with 54,000 miles.

I am almost tempted to just do it with the moogs considering I can do both sides for around $60-70 and the quality seems to be far superior to the stock ones.

rotors

Last week a mechanic decided to take a crack at diagnosing it and adjust my steering rack as a result. He simply used a crow bar to adjust certain parts. For 24 hours it was flawless. Not a single clunk while driving, steering or hitting bumps. Next morning, pulling out of the driveway, it came back. That is the closest I have come to actually solving the problem. I wish I could nail this down.
I have had the same problem with my 09. I had the steering column replaced under warranty. It is OK now.

Noise from front wheel

I also have a 2006 HHR LT 2.4.. I had the right front hub replaced as it was making a hummingnoise.. Warranty covered it... Not since warranty is out the left hub just went out.. it on my dime.. Chevrolet want almost $500.00 to fix it...

They also say it needs rotars turned, backing plate adjusted.. plus everything above they wanted almost $800.00....
