Weird sound when starting engine

So I have been experiencing a strang sound when starting my car for a while now. I found this YouTube video online where someone else is experiencing the same issue except not as bad as me. The sound will last about 25 seconds usually. Can someone please finally identify what the heck is causing this and if possible can someone give me an idea about what I might expect to pay to get it repaired?

Did you not read the comments at the bottom of the youtube video?

The originator of the video explains what exactly the problem was, and what was done to fix it. Mind you he did refer to a timing BELT.

Figure $800-1000 for a timing chain, mostly labor.

Yes, I did read the comments but I needed a more informed opinion and thus I asked here.

Oh wow, that's a lot more expensive than I hoped. It may take me a little while to come up with that kind of money. How long do you think I can keep driving with this issue?

I believe you will be changing the timing chain, not a hard impossible job

Here is a tricky one for you guys. I have already replaced all the items mentioned (timing chain, tensioners, chain behind the timing chain and tensioners. Best part is I get the same starting noise, but not every time I start it. Seems to happen when the car sits or is on an incline. Oil not staying in the right places all the time is my guess, but could be normal for this engine. Any help with the answer would be interesting to me also.

The SS is noisier in general. even the higher pressure fuel injectors make a noticeable ticking. Did you also replace the nylon chain guides and double check the valve timing? After that you could be looking at valve train wear or bearings elsewhere, but that is not a common issue.

On mine i replaced everything I could. On thing is the the manual didn't describe the VVT cam sprockets and I still have the originals. I debated changing them since there is some wear on the plastic in one spot that looked like rubbing. I figure it was wear on the inside of the sprocket that can't be serviced. Could that cause additional noise from the valve if the VVT has some internal wear not allowing the valve to close at the right time?

Could be the VVT , could be the oil as you mention, the DI injectors wouldn't be noisey on start up
