Well I "did a dumb"....
I put this in the "Problems" forum because it's a problem, and unfortunately, a self inflicted one.
Down here in the Southland, you can buy Windshield Washer Fluid that's either rated just to freezing or to -20 degrees Fahrenheit.
Well the last time I grabbed a case of "Blue Juice" it never occured to me that we'd see single digit temperatures in Carolina, well we did.
So I have three washer reservoirs on order (GM pn 15147046), because every one in my three running HHR's froze and split, leaving my garage floor looking like the scene of a Smurf massacre.
Feel free to chuckle, that's all I can do until the parts come in, just make sure you read the label on your next jug of washer fluid.

I would have bet money that they were designed not to freeze. I didn't even know they made stuff that can freeze under normal circumstances...hopefully none of the lines or sprayers cracked...Its been in the single digits or below zero here for most of the new year here...but are stuff is good to -20
Well the rear washers have been disconnected and the lines blown out for years on all of 'em, so that's not a worry. The pumps and front squirters, well I think they're all OK, but I'll find out for sure when I install the new reservoirs and fill them up with nice -20 rated fluid.
Yes Lucky, my wife is already referring to it as the "Saint Smurfentines Massacre", now Charlotte is supposed to get 2-5" of snow tomorrow into Wednesday....yuck.

-8 here rite now , Wind chill is -26 I'm looking forward to 1 degree in a couple of days .
My 1st car was a 1976 Buick century (350) It had a radiator leak , So i was dumping water in it every couple days , It froze outside one nite , Never thought about it , Got in it in the AM , hit the key , BAM - blew out the freeze plugs , cracked the block . Won't do that again. (stupid kid)

Strange, I had basically straight water with a bit of washer detergent in mine. The only problem I had was the squirters froze up. Was it he actual jug split, or the pumps? If the pump freezes and breaks the internal seal, the jug will empty on the ground.
The jugs split Don, I had topped them right up to the bottom of the filler neck, and I guess there just wasn't any room for the fluid to expand except outward.
Whether the pumps are OK remains to be determined, but I'm suitably chagrined.
