Question What is the name of this hose behind the engine? (pictures included)

Hi y'all. I acquired a Chevy HHR 2009 2.2L LS as my first fixer upper car to learn to wrench on. The previous owner duct taped this hose behind the engine. Can anyone help identify what exactly this hose is and possibly the part number?

Welcome to the site, that heat insulation from the factory on the heater hose

Here you can see the clamps on the thermostat housing end of the two heater hoses

Part numbers , but you shouldn’t need to replace them.

Welcome
As Oldblue said, that's not duct tape but a factory insulation sheath. Appears some years had that.
I guess it depends on year, model etc. because my 2010 SS does not have any insulation on the heater hoses.

To keep the weight down, to go faster? The SS had no insulation on the heater to thermostat hose, don’t see why other then the exhaust and turbo are back there , they might have different heat shielding

Adding a stick-on heat sheild may have been a quick fix to an unforseen problem. Maybe a more heat-resistant grade of hose on the SS? Silicone/kevlar heater hose exists.

Lots of it on my 2009 SS. Both heater hoses, the wire harness for the coil packs, and whatever all that is above the brake fluid reservoir.
