My last 3 GM vehicles have had groaning struts when it's cold out.

Cold combined with a crapload of snow doesn't help either.

My 2000 Impala never had suspension noise that was this bad. Every now and then you'd hear a little bit of noise over a bump or in a road dip but my HHR is terribly noisey. I ride with my buddies a lot and their VW's and Nissans don't make any noise, I wish mine was as quiet.

Try a 2004 Saturn Vue in the cold........GROAN...CREAK............none of the foreign cars I have owned have ever made noises from the suspension like that.

Thankfully the HHR has not any of those noises....................yet.

I just hit 12000 miles this week, and it just happens to be pretty darned cold here. Mine is moaning and groaning, and when I first take off, I can hear a quick banging sound coming from underneath the rear.

Mine has the sound when during cold weather and seems to occur when hitting small bumps in the road. It does it at lower speeds but does not go away when the car is warmed up, it is not noticeable on the highway but will return at slower speeds. It seems worse that it was last winter and it can really be felt under the floorboard. I am going to try to make another appointment at the dealer to get it checked out, last winter they did experience the noise and tried something that obviously didn't work.

Took my car into the dealer yesterday and they found I had a bad strut. I just got it back today and aside from the 1 mile drive home I have not been able to drive it yet to see if it is gone yet, I did not hear anything on the drive home.
