went and got my oil changed, came home shut the car off (in the driveway). Few hours later went to start it and NOTHING, nothing came on and when I went to take out the key, it doesn't come out. Battery is the original, 2008 LT2 Panel, 2.4L. I tried to use my battery booster but got nothing.....called AAA. But am curious to what could be the problem, and why in the heck doesn't the key come out?

 

Battery is dead or somebody disconnected a wire.
Dead battery activated the theft deterrent. Instruction for removing it are in your Owner Manual, also instructions for jump starting.

If you did not follow the directions for a jumpstart you will have damaged things.

Yup, security lock. Same thing happened to me a week after I got mine!

Watch this to see how to get the key out. Then read up on how to charge or jump an HHR in DonBrew's manual link and get your battery checked and/or replaced. Mine was a crap battery that finally couldn't take a charge. Buy the best you can afford, it is worth it.
