I'm @ Quaker City Dragway today...
What a beautiful day for racing today..
I'm at Quaker City Dragway in Salem, Ohio.
It will be in the 50s all day, all sunshine, zero % chance of rain.
The air "DA" will be good today.
At 11am DA = 944
Most of today the DA is to be around 1,200
I'm looking for 12.4 - 12.5 today as this track runs a little uphill starting at the 1/8 mile.
This track is one to two tenths slower than my 'home' track Keystone Raceway in Pittsburgh.
No changes to my 'Buggy' since I was last down the track.
The 'tune' is a little different, but will have no effect on elapsed time today.
Time trails start at noon, @ I will update this thread thru the day.

1st pass @ 12:40pm = 12.60 @ 106.53 mph
60' = 1.79
DA = 1200'
Strong cross wind here today.
Hmm, I'm going to try the 'tune that got me a 12.28, for the next pass.
2nd pass @ 2:10pm = 12.64 @ 106.48
DA = 1321' which went up from the 1st pass.
60' = 1.84
Well that didn't work...
I put the slicks @ 11lbs @ 'boost-launched @ 10psi instead of my normal 5-6psi.
So the slicks are going back to 14lbs & back to 5-6psi launches...
I'm losing 2 tenths between 60'-330' ?? Not sticking ?? My 'Buggy' is pulling to the left between 60'-330' area, so maybe this track is not prepped good today ??
3rd pass @ 3:34pm = 12.60 @ 106.64
DA = 1413' , DA kept going up slightly during the day.
60' = 1.80
This was my last pass for the day as it was the 1st run during elimination, & i blew the tires off at the launch.
I did a beautiful smokey burnout to heat the slicks, & it spun off the line...
This didn't hurt my 60' time, but it hurt my reaction time.
I ran a 12.60 on a 12.55 dial in.
This is the 1st time that i've been to this track for maybe 15 years.
It's been thru a few owners, & was up for auction, before the present owner bought it.
It will probaby be another 15 years before I come back to this track, it sucks...
It goes uphill, & isn't prepped well...
But to be fair to this track, it's a decent track if you have rear wheel drive, it was 'hooking' well for them.
Wrong wheel drive just isn't meant for drag racing.
Even at my home track, if the 'prep' isn't right-on, I have some trouble going down the track.
It's amazing that a little 2.0 4 cylinder engine with slicks, can over power the race track...
I ran 3 tenths & 6mph off of my best times today...
The only thing that was 'normal' today was my 60' times, 1.79, 1.80 & 1.84.
My best run ever, of 12.28 last year, had a 1.76 60'.

Thanks for the fun read today! I always follow your posts closely because of your results -- they speak louder than any words (wait - is this part of The Debate?). I digress. Love to soak in your wisdom, especially since it's based on your carefully analyzed experiences.
Some day I'll get my a/c fixed and my suspension repaired (feels like a safe in a wheelbarrow!). Then I'll enjoy unleashing all that safe, daily-driving horsepower via software tweaks (and take more advantage of my E85 gas station down the road!).
Until then, I live through you vicariously.

A trip in the way back machine for you.... First pic is of Quaker City back in 1959 or 1960. Its a unique track, go up a hill to the burnout box & starting line, then downhill off the line, up hill at the end. My Dad raced his McCollough supercharged 322 Buick powered Henry J there occasionally in the late 50's, early 60's. I occasionally raced my 401 powered 71 AMC Javelin AMX there in the late 80's thru mid 90's. Second pic is of a long gone Ohio track Howland.

Great pics and stories, AMCFORD!
I have to admit that I'm a bit MORE worried about 2005HHRAuto now... I PM'd him 2 weeks ago with no reply. I dunno... just get worried sometimes about the guys who suddenly disappear. (I'm a hospice nurse - probably why I get so worried)
