Ouch that could cause a problem with the transmission.

I honestly don't know. I have a 5 speed and don't "run" my SS. Maybe one of the auto trans. SS owners will chime in on this.
I did notice the 1/4 mile speed seemed to be slow compared to other 1/4 mile times/speeds I've seen posted up.

10 years later

10 years ago someone put up a youtube video of me as he couldn't believe how fast my 'buggy' was flying down the 1/4 mile.
That day I went 13.0s & over 110mph on street tires, as I was trying to break the 12 second barrier.
look up, fast hhr ,on youtube if the following link doesn't work.

Today I went to the track & went 12.91 & 113.87mph on 225/60r15 BF Goodrich ALL SEASON Radial TA street tires...
The secret is to leave 'Traction-Control' ON , and reducing power to 75% in 1st gear by using HPTuner software...
What a difference 10 years make... LOL
I'm still running E47.5 with no issues...
i can still 'cut' a good light too... a .020
My 'buggy' just turned 41k & still puts a smile on my face every day, for 11 years...

12.91@113.87 on street tires

Showing off for the track photographer with a 'BOOSTED' burnout...

Haven't been to the track either for a few years too...
Just wanted to get back to crossing-off getting into the 12s on street tires, from my Bucket list...

This Covid crap is scaring me, & I am afraid that me, or the track might not be around to race next year...

I'm 67 with morbidities, & the state & local governments are making it hard for track to stay open...

My 'buggy' is such a 'blast' at the track, & I just needed some 'fun' today..
It still just slips-&-slides all the way down the track on street-tires.
But I'm just a little 'smarter' over time with the HPTuner software, to tame the 'beast' just a nuff to slip into the 12s...

It's more fun than any roller-coaster ride at the amusement park...

PS
My 'buggy' did give me a 'scare' today.
At the 1,000' mark down the track, there was an explosion under the hood.
No 'smoke' when I looked in the rear-view mirror, so i figured that one of the plastic 'charge-pipes' had burst apart.
Good Luck was with me today as it was just the charge-pipe blowing off right at the turbo.
A fellow racers pair of vise-grips got that bad-boy tightened back up.
2 runs later I got the 12.91@113.87

Wow, on street tires! Imagine what you could do on slicks!

Low 12s for sure if I had my slicks with me...

i'm really trying to stay away from using the slicks, as after 11 years the 4t45e automatic may not like it anymore...

It was really consistent running 12.3s back in the day with slicks...

It was kind of funny yesterday telling some of the guys at the track that I had to 'reduce' the power in 1st gear, & also leaving the Traction-Control' ON,
with my small 4 cylinder 'buggy', to get into the 12s on street tires...

Grip is good, slip is losing! I’ve always preferred grip!

I've seen your video many times is that use one of the reasons I decided to start racing my HHR. So if you don't mind telling what tune are you using?
