K&N Filter?

I was wondering if I could use the K&N filter for a 2009 Cobalt SS in my HHR SS? the K&N site shows no products availalbe for the 2.0L HHR.

I thinkthe engines are identical, but can anybody confirm that this would work? the link to the cobalt filter is below.

Thanks!

We don't have the flat lay in type, the SS has a round element that fits over a plastic pipe

which means just about any cone aftermarket filter of the same dimension should work.Don't use the K&N though as the oil coats the intake air sensor and kicks out a check lite.......Use a dry filter
Though K&N offers a PN E-1989 filter for the SS....

The KNN filter is only a universal as they have not made a specific filter for the HHR SS.

Note 98% of the time the oil problem is when someone cleans and reoils the filter. Most people I see over oil the filter and that is what causes problems.

Only a light coating of oil is required nothing more.

KNN is a good product if you follow the instructions.

A response from K&N on the "myth" about their filters and CEL's. For what its worth they also now have a filter for the HHR SS

Quoted from the link to K&N site on MAF sensors:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is no silicone in K&N oil and testing has shown that MAF sensors will operate normally after being immersed in K&N Filter oil
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Sounds like K&N took the challenge to debunk the claims of MAF code faults.

My first reply is bull ---- Think about it!!!!!!! You soak the maf in k&n oil......it still reads ok..........but what about after 8 to 10k miles of collecting dirt matter on the MAF sensor wires.......will it still read ok......??????? I think not........and don't tell me I don't know what i'm talikng about.....I have used K&N filters since they first came out........and they have always had this problem..........You have to learn to carry your little can of cleaner ......to clean the MAF..........Or you can go to a high-performance DRY filter.......Your pick.......Carry the cleaner or go dry........Wolfie

I have to say.....

that I ran K&N's on various cars in the past, and especially on my 94 25th Anniv T/A.....never had a problem and I never overoiled, just enough to coat the filter.......
