P0054 code o2 sensor 2

I'm guessing it's the O2 sensor behind the cat ? The code came on this morning . It was 20 degrees out and yesterday I drove through a lot of cold snow covered roads..

it's a 2006 early build, ordered in sept. 2.4 engine. automatic, 75k miles. I've replaced the upstream sensor twice since the car was new.

Other than a few things the car has been really great...

THANKS, other than a few oops'es the car has been great.

This weekend should be 45 to 50 degrees so that is the best shot at replacing it.

I don't know how the car knows it's time for it's yearly inspection, but it always happens just before... dang.

Could be a broken wire.

Ran a tank of high test with 2 bottles of Chevron Tetron, beat the crap out of it, borrowed a friends scanner and removed the code.

It's been off for a day, so far so good. If it comes back I change the sensor.. gas mileage is arround 23. Same as always...

What scanner do you recommend / use .. his cost $200 a few years ago. A little steep for me...

thanks

You just wasted your money and time on Techron. The code has nothing to do with dirty anything. It is about the heater coil in the sensor; it could be bad or the wiring could be faulty or the emissions fuse blew. It indicates an open circuit.

Smile

Checked the wiring this morning early, also sprayed penetrating oil on the sensor (just in case).

Drove 200 miles today, combo of highway and stop and go. Also ran a few errands. Car is running better.

Got 24 mpg as per computer. Since the check engine light is off, I had the car inspected - passed. No codes.

It's starting easier and appears to be running smother.

Refueled with the middle grade gas.

Lets hope the light stays off, at least until summer. ( or until it's warmer)
