newbies butyl patch fix

I know this is old news for a lot of members but for the few newbies like me here are pics of a new patch made from a scrap piece of sheet plastic I already had.

Good idea! That should last longer, and some might now need to revisit the dreaded butyl patch , time may have taken its toll !

Thanks. I havent sealed it yet im still cleaning up in there but I plan on using weatherstrip adhesive.

Perhaps 3m double sided body side molding tape as a back up!

The plastic won’t allow the weather strip adhesive to grip and hold by itself.
The tape will, a tip wipe the plastic with an alcohol wipe to clean it before you stick that tape to it.
