High pitch whine.

Picked up 07 lt. All stock.. head unit speakers sub etc. All stock. Turn volume up half way and you get really loud whine in the speakers. As you press the gas the whine gets louder. Also if you use aux head phone jack, doesn't matter what you have volume at, it will whine.

where do I start? Thanks.

Sounds like its picking up noise from the alternator or ignition. Check this diagnostic guide - yes it is aimed trouble shooting new installations, but most of it is still valid for older installs:

I'd start by checking the grounds first off.

I can't do much or lift till clearance from dr. But I can supervise, so I'll be taking oldest kid out and having him check battery terminals first, especially the ground.

thanks for the input, I'll update for sure.

Show him how to perform a battery lobotomy!

It could have to do with your A/C problem

I didn't think about that causing ac issues.

I think im going to have him take the brand new battery from the wrecked car and put into this car. Also I did a 0ga ground and new battery terminal for the battery in the old, think I'll teach him how to swap that to.
then I don't have to worry about battery or the battery terminal.

Ok so yes there is a loose negative battery terminal, it is tightened all the way down, but i can pull it right off the battery... so going ahead and have kiddo swap battery and terminal, go from there.

and all swapped. so car started up way better, but my dumb arse forgot to check for radio whine...

Negative for sure was bad, Camden lifted the negative bracket right off the battery with a full tighten. and found out it was not even a battery meant for HHR, didnt have a vent tube and physically was so huge that it was in leaning.

wife has to go out in a bit, ill make her check for whining in radio.

it was a nightmare, luckily from what i can see, it never touched, never shorted out.. but good battery in and everything tight and locked into place.

the fun adventures of buying a used car, yay.

If that battery is not securely fastened down that can be a real problem if the POS side shorts out to the chassis.

With the new battery and 0ga ground and all tightened. I haven't heard the whine. So I'm assuming it was the bad negative connected to the battery.
