Changing Classified Posting Requirements

Many of the car enthusiast websites have a "Classified" section. Also many of these sites require a minimum amount of participation before a "For Sale" OR a "Car of the Month" is allowed to be posted. This minimizes (notice....does not eliminate) one time posters from using the web sites in a fictitious way, i.e. scams, etc.

I think Administration should consider the usefulness of such a practice.

Totally agree. I would be sceptical of a anything for sale that is the sellers only post on the site.

I agree. I also think they should clean up the classified section, theres no need to have 121 pages of it. Clear up things that are over a year old or even sooner.

Amen Brothers!

But for changes to take place in any substantial way I think we need more moderation here, please don't take this personally Sindy and Brad, but the call for additional moderators went out in January.....still nothing.

I'd think a minimum of 50 posts or 90 days of membership without complaints would be appropriate before allowing new members to post in the classified section.

i agree to this 50 posts or 90 days idea!!

and also , a clean up of the classifieds would be nice ..
have different sections of the classifieds for ..
-vehicles for sale
-parts for sale
-personal items or "general" for sale
-wanted items

I also agree..

And as to the classifieds, perhaps after something is sold, & a given amount of time has passed.. That 'closed' post could be removed to lessen the load there..

What great suggestions .

As I have mentioned before, Leave the Edit function ON for the life of the add so members can make any adjustments to their adds Quickly and without any hassles.

Lets get this handled ASAP.

Some of those old adds would be cleared if they would allow a way for the poster to easily cancel the add when ever they want.

This issue and also allowing Editing for the full time the add is run is nothing new or inovative.

Both Craigs List and E bay have these features.

Lets get up to speed here.

The moderation team (me) is in favor of some of these changes. But admin must make the final decision.
