If I can, I would like to suggest a title change. The “How to Guide” section title is too ambiguous for many new users – there are often users starting new threads asking general questions there. Such as “How do I do this or that…”. The “How to Guide” section is for “Tutorials”, how about incorporating the word “tutorial” in the title. Or a notice that comes up when an OP is submitting to confirm they are actually adding a tutorial to the site and not a general question – which, if so, should be posted elsewhere.

At the time of this writing there are several threads started in the “How to Guide” that should be moved. Most are by new members IIRC. Also many forums have a “report a bad post” button somewhere on the thread page allowing quick and easy reporting of transgressions of all sorts.

As it stands today, if I were to report these minor transgressions I would have to remember just who is a moderator, look them up and IM them about the transgression including a link – too long of a process. It could be easily automated by the “Bad Post” button.

Another option I have seem on the same software this site uses is a “Sub Sticky” that stays at the top of the section directing users how to use the Forum section and just what type of threads are appropriate.

I’m not *****ing – it just seems easier for the moderators and users if there was some direction.
