Road trip route advice,,GA and NC

I will be heading NE out of Atlanta to Glenville NC. I hear these are really winding roads. Anyone know the fast way and what roads to use?

Google maps has me heading out of Atlanta on GA365, then GA246, then NC106, then US64 then to NC17 which is the highway that Glenville is on.

The way I understand it, the fastest way is not necessarily the shortest way due to the winding roads in the mountains.

I am getting to Atlanta from Dallas via I20.

I used to live just north of Glenville in Waynesville. You can go up 985 to Gainesville, 985 then turns into US23 which turns into US 23-441. Take that up to Franklin,NC then up to Sylva,NC then back down to Cullowhee,NC to Glenville. Mostly 4 lane highway except the last bit from Cullowhee to Glenville. You will like Lake Glenville, used to go there to jet ski. Hope you have a good trip.

Take I-85 North to I-985. 985 will turn into Us 23-441 somewhere just past Gainesville. Continute on US 23-441 just past Dillard, GA take 246 which soon turns to 106 (once you cross into NC) and go through Highlands, then turns to 64 and take to 107 North and once you hit 107 you'll be there in like 20 min.

Easy route, 23-441 is a great road, little traffic (usually), with little cops...watch out right before you get into Clayton GA as a trooper is often seen there on the left. It's all mostly 4 lane. Beautiful scenery that you won't regret seeing!!

I'm still here. It's been a great 6 days. We did white water rafting on the Nantahalla river yesterday. Lot's of fun. Just got back from seeing some really cool falls. I hear it's 103 in dallas today. 80 here.

We ended up taking I85 out of Atlanta to hwy 11 in SC. That took us to hwy 107 which took us right to where we needed to be. No matter which route we took it was going to be a lot of winding mountain roads. It's all good though. Thanks for everyones suggestions.
