I've been to the local dealer in town and have checked out inventories in the L.A. area, and the HHR that I want is nowhere to be found. My problem is I do not want an auto transmission, sun-stroke roof, leather or cashmere. With the temps here in the Antelope Valley above 90 deg. for the majority of the year, why add to the discomfort? So, I'm goin' to put in an order for a 2009 to my specs. A shame they won't be offering the sunburst orange for '09. I think I'll go for the Aqua Blue Metallic, but am not sure want that will look like. I was looking at the LT2, now I think I'll go whole hog for the SS. I believe I'll get the AA5 solid rear quarter panel option. Dealers have told me that even if I placed my order now, I would not get my HHR until October or even November. That is hard for me to believe. Any body out there with insight or better information? As far as I can remember, the new cars came out in September, and if I ordered now or as late as August, I should have my HHR in about 4-6 weeks.

 

Edmunds.com finally came out with a price listing for the 2009 with options yesterday. Looks to be about a $2000 price jump on the SS with the once options that are now standard equipment. I compared my build-your-own that I did with the '08 and '09 specs.I like the XM delete option. They also have an option for a reconfigurable display that gets mounted on the dash where the upper storage bin is at, doing away with that storage bin. Going to order my '09 SS with solid rear quarter panel today.

 

Cant wait for chevy to update their web site so you can somewhat build an '09 hhr

 

Well, the deed is done. My '09 SS is on order, so to speak. First the dealership has to wait for their consignment allocation before they can actually order it, one week later. So, the dealer will call me around 10 July to tell that it is on order and maybe what the price will be. I had him show me what the Aqua Blue Metallic looks like, and it is a shade or so lighter than the Flash Blue Metallic. The XM delete option is only for fleet orders though. The guy I dealt with is also an HHR owner, so he felt my pain when I told him of the SOM delete. His is that color.

 

The dealer notified me yesterday that my order was sent out, but the factory hasn't accepted the order yet???? He said he should know more by @ 16 July. He still can't even give me a good figure on the possible MSRP with the options that I ordered. Maybe I will be waiting until October/November before I see My Smurfinator at the dealership.

seems to me thats the way to do it, Todd. so many used ones out there and alot of smashed up ones. i'm working on getting a 2006, thats been rolled. this way i can make it the way it the way i think the HHR should be.

 

I think the same Paul, especially if you are going to go get a used one! get the cheapest one you can...in a color that you like. Hell, mine was wrecked, had it fixed of course. Can't tell the difference. If you can get one wrecked, rolled, or whatever and it was fixed properly go for it! Todd (uma)

 

for the money difference of a new one and what i hope to have in a rebuilt one no one will ever know. i do have a 3800 motor from a impala. its a start. can't wait to be able to be driving to a g2g in sunny socal again!

 

Any news on this? ... I've been following it with interest, and I sure hope you get the car you want out after thinking it all out -- and then they get iffy about it? Sheesh!!

I haven't seen the color but am guessing it is a PRIMO soCal color. Smurfinator - very cool. So did you ask for an SS with rear window delete?
