Yeah, I asked for the solid rear quarter panel. That's the main reason I asked about the 'Chevy' optional spotter mirror. This will be a second vehicle for me. A Sunday 'go-to-meeting' pleasure vehicle. So, as anxious as I am, I can wait, no problem. It is just the aggrevation and the seem to be run-a-round. I've been checking the forums out at this site and already have some ideas in mind.

 

The factory has picked up my order , but they have not set a production date yet . I guess the performance display has something to do with that, since the word is they won't be delivered to the factory until August .
He has even given me an idea as to how much I will be paying. My price will be invoice plus tax, license & fees, less any factory incentives that may be available at the time of delivery.

that sounds hot...as soon as you get that bad boy, we need pics immediately! i love the new Aqua Blue Metallic, and had it been available on the '08 i'd have that over black in a heartbeat! and the AA5 option to boot...gonna be BEAUTIFUL!

Did you order yours from Rally Chevrolet in Palmdale?

That's the dealer I got mine from. The salesmen with the SOM HHR got the first one to show up at the lot back in July '05. I got the 3rd one off the lot on Aug 10th of 05

Production of the Smurfinator will begin on 11 August.
So, being in SoCal, I may have my SS by Labor Day, pun intended for born on date.

 

My dealer checked with the GM website and found out that the build has been moved back to the week of Sept. 1st. Plus, he says that once the car is built, it usually takes about a week to get delivery.

 

Now the date is the week of 22 Sept. So, looks like when I started this thread the dealer was pretty close to right on when he said I would be waiting until Oct.-Nov. to get my ride. At least now he admits that the RPD has been the problem. I think it is just a GM plot to keep us from getting the employee discount.

 

My new build week is 20 October. Same reason, the UAF option doesn't seem to want to work with the 5-speed. It is supposed to be working alright with the auto tranny. Did a area inventory of dealers in the L.A. area and there doesn't seem to be many SS's out there at all. And, the ones that I find have the auto tranny. That means no Brembo brakes or the LSD. I'm sure glad that I'm in no hurry to have this vehicle. It's looking more and more that the date range that I mentioned in the opening post of this thread is coming true. My dealer told me it would probably be October or November before I would see my car. And, that was back in June. Go figure.
