The Perfect Cruise

As we've all had time after the Bodego Bay jaunt to kick back, reflect on the day, clean and wax the "Heap". I was remembering what Tim (aka TEB-HHR) was saying about planning a "Gold Country" trip and thinking Yeah that sounds Cool, but also wondering what everyone else's idea would be for that one"PERFECT CRUISE". One day,two day,who cares!Everyone has that "Special Place"that they'd love to go to. Share it with us.

Problem with mine is it starts and ends in Colorado and I'm in Mass.

I've been there before:
South from Denver to Canon City.

Park and take the train to the end of the canyon and back.

Get back to driving:
There's a very cool one way ridge drive just west from CC
It goes past a 4 wheeling area which I won't go on with the HHR.

Back to the drive:
I took Rt 50 through Salida and Gunnison,
took 550 at Montrose through Telluride and Silverton
and took 160 in Durango through Cortez and Four Corners to Tuba City,
Then got to The Grand Canyon and stayed there for about 1.5 weeks.
I got so sick of sleeping in my car that I drove down to Flagstaff just to sleep in a bed for a night

Back to Denver then up through Rocky Mountain National Park after a couple of days.
Rt 6 into Golden (on the return ride) is one of my favorite stretches of road I've ever been down.
It follows a river most of the way and tunnels through mountains.
It's as beautiful as the Grand Canyon is awesome.

I drove the ~2000 miles back from Denver to Hopkinton, Mass in almost exactly 48 hours.

I'd like to do all that again someday but take my time.

I lived in Greeley,Co. for two years. The drive that stands out was between Estes Park and Central City. I was in a Corvette club-beautiful country

I have driven from VA to So Cal and back a few times. I went to Missouri a few years ago in the HHR. I did the northern route through the Rocky Mountains, that was my perfect cruise, I kinda of took my time but it was beautiful through Utah and Colorado, sucked after that, LOL. Loved it, Todd (Uma)

Did you bring your vette up Old Fall River Road?
Fun road with a great view

Just careful where you step out of your car, that first step's a Deusey!

I am taking a risk at being cheesy but anywhere with a group of friends is a perfect cruise. I can say if I never drive the 10 through Texas I'd be very happy. I don't think there is a bad cruise in California, from the mountains to the coast it is all good, even So Cal traffic is good.

Blue Ridge Parkway in early June.
Down near Fancy Gap & Hillsville.
Anyone here have pictures of that area when the rhododendrons are blossoming?
Miles of rhododendrons & azaleas for those that have never been.
