I would like to know how your temps are with the new motor.

Mine will swing 20 degrees or more all the time. From 198 up to a high of 223 so far. It is annyoing, and I don't think it should be that drastic. The fan stays running many times too after I shut it off.

The engine has about 700 miles on it since I got it back last Monday.

The engine is out!

So stopped by the shop today. The old engine is out and waiting for the new one, which should be there by now... Here are some pics...

I don't know why it's so small!!!

I used to run about 190-200 with the old engine. I'll let you know how it is with the new one.

Would be interested in seeing the tops of the pistons and the valves too but I can get a good idea of how mangled and reshaped they are from seeing these pics.

Well thanks 07azhhr for making me look like a chump. How'd you do that? I copied the BB line.

I wanted to see the pistons and valves too, but I'm not paying them to tear the engine apart just for pictures. But yeah, the damage must be bad.

I was under the impression that the timing chain had jumped off the sprocket when the tensioner failed. What had actually happened was that when the tensioner failed, the chain slacked, but still kept turning. When that happened, the cams were no longer in sync with the driveshaft, and I"m out 9000 dollars.

You have to open them up to the larger size then copy the code. .

The piston tops have probably been redesigned lol. But many of the valves are definitely bent if not broken. The change to the tops of the pistons should lower compression a bit and allow for more boost .

Got my turbotech engine mount today! Now just waiting on new shocks, water pump, and the new turbo pipe. Sorry I don't have pictures during the assembly process, but I don't want to become a pest in the shop, and I don't have regular transportation.

Hey Rainman. Thanks for suggesting that shop. His price difference allowed me to get a few upgrades, and still kept me around 9000 when he found a few other issues like the struts, water pump, and serpetine belt.

Its back!!

Got my SS Panel back yesterday!!! Have an issue with the boost pipe so stock is in it for now. 10,250 for all the labor and parts. Purrs great though. For whoever asked, 100 miles so far and temps seem to be running 194-206. I really want to take it out and see what it can do, but the service guys said go easy for the first thousand miles first.
