09 SS 2.0 crank seal gone

09 SS 2.0 crank seal gone
at 38,000 km. This is not what I was hoping to see from a direct injection turbo that will 'save' GM.
I was in love with this 30mpg 260 hp beauty up until yesterday. My 5.0L only had 205 crank hp! Then I found the oil slick on my garage floor...
Has anyone else heard of this problem? It's all under warranty, but it would be good to know why. It isn't like I was at the Solo Nats buzzing the thing to 7k every weekend.

Condition
Important: If the customer did not bring their vehicle in for this concern, DO NOT proceed with this bulletin.
Some customers may comment on an oil leak under the vehicle.
Further inspection will reveal the leak to be engine oil and show the leak is coming from the crankshaft front oil seal.
Cause
GM Engineering is attempting to determine the cause of the engine oil leak. General Motors has a need to gather information first-hand from the dealer technician DURING diagnosis and BEFORE repair. As a result, this information will be used by engineeering to help "root cause" the customer's concern and develop/validate a field fix.
Instructions
Important: GM Engineering is only interested in vehicles that have 16,093 km (10,000 mi) or less mileage.
First, verify the leak is engine oil using a leak detection lamp and dye. If the leak is engine oil and it is determined to be coming from the crankshaft front oil seal, please contact the engineer listed below for additional instructions. If the vehicle has mileage higher than 16,093 km (10,000 mi), proceed with diagnosing and repairing the vehicle based on information found in SI. Submit a Field Product Report with the repair information.

I just had this taken care of a couple weeks ago. They gave me no trouble....same thing, I started noticing some oil leakage underneath, then a few drips on the driveway. Fixed under warranty no questions asked.

Follow up
Sadly, my dealership was only going to replace the crank seal.
When I politely asked about the pulley, bolt and drive belt, and saw blank stares of confusion, and asked the, to reference Chevymgr's excellent Pip 4718, and then made 4 follow up phone calls, they agreed that perhaps they all should be changed.
I can't say that my impression of the dealer network improved... The thing is it is still under warranty, and so why would they care if they replaced all the parts or one part?
Care to guess who's going to ask for the box of used parts back?

Mine was leaking a touch at that seal when I brought mine home with 50 miles...I tightened it up and nothing since. But now that a TSB is there, I will make them replace it. (when they put my license on with rusty screws, be damned if I was to take it back to them for anything, I go to other dealers ever since)
