Because GM will only pay the dealership warranty time for defective parts. If they replace parts that weren't defective, and GM figures it out, the dealership has to eat the cost of the replaced parts and labor.

How did you tighten up a crank seal ? Is your crank seal leaking now ? If not TBS or not they won't replace anything !

GM get's to keep all the parts that they pay for not the cust.

The 2.4 engine also had the same crank seal issue and Chevy put out a tech note on it. I don't have the note #

02 SS 2.0 crank seal

I have the same problem on my SS. Just took it into the dealer. They will replace the seal. It is still under warranty at 35,280 miles.
