Exactly. I called and setup the appt and gave them my VIN and they said yep it should be covered under 36k come on in. Then when I go to pick it up they told me, "well if we have to fix the leak it won't be covered". I had them put the dye in on Monday and no leaks so far. **knock on wood**

Ok so like I thought it would the leak came back! I looked at the engine last night because I noticed a small drip about the size of a dime on my driveway. When I look down at the top of the engine I see a small place that looked pretty wet with oil and dye on the top of the oil filter housing. I took it in this morning to see if they can pinpoint it. We'll see. It was running hot yesterday as well and I had to add about a 1/2 a bottle of Dexcool to it to get it up to the cold fill line. This car is starting to become a problem.

Ok so I just called my dealer and they said they think it's a POROUS BLOCK!!! And since mine has a salvage title they said GM will not do anything for me on it. WTF!?!?!? If I could sell this thing today for my note I would do it in a heartbeat. Does anyone out there have any advice for me?

ChevyMGR, do you think there is any chance GM would help me out at all on this? This is obviously a defect not anything I did to cause this.

Only the local GM representative could authorize this and I doubt he will, but you can try calling GM.

Hindsight is 20/20 but this is why I never advise someone to purchase a salvaged vehicle.

Yeah but I could understand if this was at all related to the reason why it was salvaged. Do I just call an 800# for GM?

I wouldn't trust the porosity claim. Have another shop check this first.

I was thinking maybe head gasket before she said porous block. They said I need to bring it back in for a $300 test with their "heavy engine mechanic" to determine if the block is porous.

Should I go to another dealer you think or to a non-dealer mechanic I know and trust?
