2.0L Issues speak up
Yes there is a software upgrade to TPMs. Seems to take care of the phantom sensor drop out.
They did have issues with the swing arms. The car did not go flipping as much as the wheel would roll under and hop the rear out and could cause a spin. A flip was possible but not common.
This is why the later cars had axle shafts with two u joints vs just the one inner one.
The whole deal was like the Fiero where a couple had issues and the press made it sound like all. So while it was not a great issue it was not a myth either. I have a book a GM engineer wrote that details the issue and how they fixed it.
We had 6 Corvairs in the family first gen and second in the 60's.

I've had this thing to 3 different mechs and a dealer and no one can figure it out. Its a 2008 HHR SS it has about 55000 mi on it, the CEL came on about 4 months ago or so and it has the following codes. P0130, P0135, P2251. So it has to do with the front O2 sensor, i have replaced this sensor and looked at the MAF, MAP, and pretty much everything else. This is my wifes car but from driving it heres what happens....on cold starts it sputters but after about 5 sec its fine I have HP tuners and used the scanner and cant find anything NO i have not put a tune on the car or anything like that. other than that I don't know what else to look at. Got any ideas??? Thanks in advace
I mean, ive only had mine since feb first, but it seems decent. I mean my other car wasnt this fast, and wasnt so computerised. I didnt have TPMS,or hell ABS. lol
But to the point, when you add stuff in, it will fail.
Mine has failed, its cool. Luckly its nothing major just yet, two clutch position sensors, now a tpms problem, and windows. But overall, I wouldnt go back to an import.
GM might not be the top dawg, when it comes to cutting cornors, but I love this lil beast. And doubt the TPMS/windows will fall under my Extrended GM warrenty I bought, but the sensors have been. lol but luckly no maf problems, but I did see in GM's records of this car, a new battery was installed within 30k miles and new injectors. not performance, just stock ones.
Oh n what is up with the loud tranny? U can hear each gear engage/disengage. Kinda not so sexy lol
** so after about an hour drive, just now, TPMS is back online. lol hopefully itll mess up fer the dealership, but with all the past times ive had problems, it wont.**

Have you ever cleaned, or had someone clean, your throttle body? My electronic throttle control on my last car was sensitive to this. Gunk in the throttle body was making it less-responsive. The solution there was spraying a carb/intake cleaner in there and wiping it out good. I had to do that about every 15k miles or so. It's inexpensive, so trying it shouldn't be hard.
