2008 HHR SS anti freeze in oil pan

hi guys, my 08 SS started losing anti freeze and the oil pan level is rising. She has 370,000 km on her with very few problems to this point. we pulled the oil plug and anti freeze came out. wondered if this is a common problem and a point in the right direction would be great. Thanx, Kevin

Welcome to the site, sorry to say but the 2008 LNF did have porosity issues in the block, now it might just be a head gasket or the oil cooler has a corrosion issue . Hopefully not serious.
However antifreeze in the oil will kill the main and rod bearings .
at the mileage perhaps a replacement engine from a wrecking yard ( in our neck of the woods?) a replacement new LDK engine from a supplier like ZZP, or a rebuild .

I see those new engines on ebay but wonder with the mileage if I should just walk away if there is no fix for the original engine. I ordered a new Caddy XT4 with the 2 litre turbo last week. 8 to 10 weeks delivery so hope for a quick fixed to get me through a couple of months

to the forums!

Yep, that very likely ruined your engine. The turbo is lubricated with the engine oil, and cooled by the engine coolant, so it's toast also.

Side note, I finally pulled the trigger on a new LDK longblock from ZZP, today!

so I left the car with a buddy to see what he could do with it. He came up with the fact that the anti freeze for sure was getting into the oil. With some research he bought a bottle of Rislone block seal liquid copper and poured it in. new oil and filter then drove the car around for 2 days. Anti freeze no longer disappearing and nothing in the oil. no idea how long this fix will work but fingers crossed for 2 months till the new car comes in

Then what are your plans with the SS or is it being traded in? I cringe at that thought!

I know they would not give me anything on a trade in so it will be a wait and see how the car is running when the new one arrives.
