2010 HHR SS P0101questions

OK my wife got a used HHR SS 2010 automatic. Last night she called said it salled out and she couldn't keep it running. I got there and she said she kept trying and all a sudden worked itself out. I drove it when she got home and immediately noticed no turbo and engine light came on. Read codes and had P0101 code. It has 125k miles and was raining last night. I searched around and I see main issues associated with this code are a dirty MAF sensor or a air leak. Here are my questions.
1. Is there a link someone has that can show me where to find the MAF sensor or sensors that I need to check/clean.
2. I noticed a few weeks ago the i am assuming compressor for the turbo was kinda loud. Is this normal?
Any other advise would be appreciated. I am not a mechanic but fairly mechanical. I am a licensed HVAC repair tech. Thanks in advance.

If you key P0101 into the search window there are so many more!

Like this look at post #7 for a possibility.

OK, Wife bought the extended warranty with this so took it into the dealer to see if the warranty would cover. No luck in that and they threw a bunch of parts at it. Mass air flow sensor, O2 Sensor,... no luck so I went over and they put it on the lift and had me go out and showed me that the intercooler plastic intake or exhaust on the bottom passenger side had broken off the intercooler. Now they are want $900+ to fix it. I see a bunch of after-market ones. My question is #1 are the after-markets better and more durable. #2 Is the Cobalt and HHR intercooler the same part? Need some advise on what to do here. Thanks in advance

Cant replace just the plastic end. I believe the Cobalt and HHR intercoolers are the same. There are a number of aftermarket intercoolers, who's going to install it?

Hmm. Could be wrong but I seem to recall reading that the intercoolers are slightly different between the HHR and Cobalt. Something about the fitment in the bumper area.
Pull up the part numbers for each and that should tell you.

EDIT: I pulled the part numbers and they show the same number.
If it was mine and I had to replace my intercooler, I would go aftermarket with something more durable. The stock intercooler plastic ends are the "weak link" in it's design. One little bump into a parking curb is enough to break them.

I think this time I will go OEM just because I don't have time to deal with it. If it happens again I'll go aftermarket. I just have to pay the money and get it fixed
