Any tips for accessing throttle body?

I am going to remove and clean the throttle body, and it seems pretty buried. Anyone here remove one, and if so, how did you get to it? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I did this once... once... still got the scars.

Believe it or not but "Bonnie" threw a Camshaft Positioner code a few days ago, so while they are fixing that(under warranty) I am having them clean the throttle body as well. As I type. It should be ready in a few hours. it's only 30 bucks, plus Its raining here in TN right now, so better a trained monkey then me.

If you have the option for warranty work under your hood, take advantage of it.. It will make YOUR life easier, and you have less scars..

I am afraid to the let the dealer work on mine, he has tried to fix this problem 5 times to no avail. I tried to get him to replace it, but he said there is no indication it is bad. (other than the fact the car will not return to idle speed when shifting out of 1st when the engine has been sitting hot.)

Then I would seek out another GM Dealership.. and let them do the work.. I find it better to let them do it, that way if something is messed up, they have to fix it.. I understand your waryness.. I had a similar problem with my dealership, but once I brought it to the Service Managers attention.. Haven't had any problems since..

Bummer, maybe its Karma... I always have no issues with the dealer. this last visit saw a nail infested tire fixed, camshaft thingy replaced, throttle body checked and cleaned, and tires rotated. $38.00! Happy, happy, happy.

I will say this about that cammy part, when that baby starts to go you will start to see some crazy boost numbers before downshift, and some serious roughness in the shift.

Nice discussion but what's the best way to get the TB off to clean?

Do any of the repair manuals show how to clean/remove the TB? Looks like access from the bottom may be best. Any tips would be appreciated.
