I have the 08 with auto and the GM stage kit since January. 20,000 miles since the kit was installed with no tranny issues.

I have an 09 SS with the Stage 1 kit. Had the kit for the last month. I too wonder about the tranny strentgh. I worked as a Parts Manager for 23 years in a Chevy dealer and I know that GM trannys(stock) are not very strong to begin with. I worry but whatever happens...happens. It's under warranty. I guess those of us who have it already will be guinea pigs.....meaning we will just see if it holds up as we go along.
I dont push mine too much, such as nailing it off the line at every light but I do lay into it alot once I am already going. So far so good.

BSR HAHN Tune w/Auto

had this tune since 9000 miles, now aproaching 28,000 miles, more TQ & HP than the Stage 1 GM tune, no problems at all with the auto trans, in fact the trans even responds better in the Comp/Laaunch Control mode. I know I gave up the warranty on the drive train if something goes wrong, but then again I don't beat up on it, so I do expect it to last for a long, long time.....
I would never go back to stock, in fact I have a spare ECM, that I am thinking about using with the Superchips tuner, as I had one of these in my 04 GTO which was unreal......that gives you a little more tuning ability than the BSR......so we shall see

This begs the question why Chevy detuned the auto down from 260 HP, if they allow the Stage 1 kit to boost it up to 290 HP.

So they can sell the stage kit.

Also the owner of a local tranny shop told me that the auto trans is fine for a cavalier. Gm may have hardened the input shaft but the differential is what he would be worried about. If the diff grenades it will wipe out the whole auto trans.

The warranty with the stage kit adds some comfort though

The Solstice gets a higher rating because of the rear wheel drive, it covers parasidic loses from the extra driveline....so it should equal out about the same...just get it, you won't be sorry
