Auto tranny strong enough for stage 1?
Chudly, That was exactly my thoughts!
*********starting small rant cause I am pissed :) *********
So great, warranty is still good...NOW! But this was supposed to be my daily driver not my hot rod. The Jeep was getting the Supercharger and was allowed to break, not the HHR! My worry is three to four years down the road...... then what? looks like I might trade them both in on a new to me Jeep! Might have to go back to my roots and get a TJ or LJ with a STOUT and tested over time drivetrain!
************ rant over *****************
I love this car and have been a GM fan longer than a Jeep fan, but they have lost their way if they can't build a proper tranny for a mild performance car! I don't care if it is an auto! I ran 700-r4's, TH400/350 til the motors burned up and never has a GM tranny given out on me! They used to know how to build items without worring about bottom dollars over performance!

Just got the call! Total tranny failure. Sounds like the planetary gears came out of position and caused a complete shell-out of the gears. Under warranty and said was not part of "normal" driving, even for normal driving of an SS. Sounds like it might have been a retaining clip, but still has me a bit worried. I am worried cause I baby this thing and the worse driving condition it sees is some mild goosing from time to time. I don't spin tires cause they cost money :) and the most hard acceleration is done at 25 mph plus.
I think it just might be a crap shoot and I lost :) Asked if they would like to do a Stage 1 while it was in the shop :)
