Avg. MPG

My average looks to be around 17. Is this a sign of trouble? I was expecting higher. Not running the hell out of it just some pulls and some 10lb roll in throttle aout 30 mph.. aprox. 16 miles a day of highway then town for the other 2-6 miles. Instant read on highway cruise cntl. is about 29-32. Also forgive me but from a stoplight instant is as low as 8 with little boost. does this sound normal? Thanks We do alot of stop and go driving as well

Could be right. The instantaneous highway is right. My overall average is 24, but I drive 95% highway. Oh, I have quite the hot foot too. (or is it the car that's hot???)

Mine is around 19....but I drive it in COMP mode all the time, some highway driving and I tend to lay into it quite a bit......

Your instant MPG sounds fine. It will read very low when you start off from a light. You are using gas and barely moving, so it makes sense the MPG is very low. Also those throttle roll-ons at 30MPH are fun, but they do impact mileage. Once you get used to the car, and it gets broken in your mileage might go up but if you do lots of stop-and go mileage nothing short of a hybrid will get all that great mileage.

It takes a fair amount of time after a reset for AVG MPG to stabilize. If you reset it and go drive on the highway, you'll have an artificially high number for a while, too.

Cool

Well I'm feeling good about mine.26 mpg when back and forth to work(half higway miles) Took a 700 mile round trip last week:cruise set at 75,and got 28.4 mpg.
Got my numbers the old fashioned way with pencil and paper.I log all fillups in my little black book. I just hit 4000 on the odmeter so maybe I'm at that break in mileage some of you guys talk about.
Also mine is a 5speed and I have learned how to tweak out a little extra mileage over the years of driving a vehicle with a stick.
As far as the computer readout is concerned.Don't be. Average reading might be close, but don't even look at the instant mpg.The instant mpg reading will just fry your brain cells! I've seen it read 8mpg(gas pedal mashed) and up to 99mpg(coasting in 5th:no gas).
