I have put 27k on my car since I bought it, has just under 32k on it right now and my worst tank has been just under 25mpg and my car has been tuned since the day I got it. I beat on my car very often and that low tank I had been to 100+ atleast 25 times while doing some tuning.

 

MPG already increasing now 19.8. Even with more spirited driving still on first tank of 93 fuel. Now has 503 miles on her

 

That engine must be pretty tight. Even with stop-and-go driving, you should eventually see at least 23. I get 26mpg on a non-Stage-1 AT with a mix of city, highway and mountain roads. I drive pretty mellow, though; lingering habits from owning a Prius. If your wife is cranking up the loud pedal often, that might explain things.

 

Shes havin some fun but not beating on it. Gas mileage should come around. Last 100 miles its coming up steadily

 

I experienced good MPG from the beginning and never really saw the break-in period affect it.

 

The more I think about it the more I think 89 was put in at dealer when they filled me up. Mileage has steadily been coming up with 93 I put in Sunday. Maybe not but its climbing. Its now 20.2 and been hot & humid here with some playing

 

Come to think of it, I seem to remember that happening to me, too. I don't remember the mpg number now (this was a few months ago), bit I recall being a little nervous about it. You should be ok with the good gas. You'll probably do a little better after the novelty of romping on the throttle wears off a little, too.
