Hey Kev, did you reset the mpg readout after filling up? That number isn't going to change much if it starts averaging over several tankfulls.

Took my new '08 out for it's first cruise with me last night. 8100 miles on the clock. Went from Burbank to Pomona..50 or so miles. At a steady 65mph the DIC said 34.2 Average to and 32.5 average roud trip with a bit of city driving in between.

I calculate about 19 cobined and 25 highway. If I keep her at 65mph I can get 31.

I have recently been doing a 450 mile roundtrip of 90% clear freeway driving every weekend, for a couple of months, so a good chance to do some accurate mpg calcs. So far the DIC matches manual calculations exactly.

Traveling between the posted limits of 65 to 70 and the "flow of CA traffic" I average 30.6 MPG which I consider very good. (My lifetime average hovers around 27 mpg). My current tires have a pretty agressive tread, so I think a lower rolling resistance tire might do better. This is also without any effort to maximize mpg like some of the "hypermilers" and I am happy with it.
