The Boy "killed" The Battery
The Boy "killed" The Battery
Well, while cleaning the SS today my 3 year old was kinda helping and turned the headlights on. well, long story short, I didn't notice and the battery died after a couple of hours, no biggie, except that I should have checked the forum before jumping the car off with the wife's ride. I hooked up the Jumpers to the ground and positive under the hood and the car cranked the first time no problem..... until I tried both RKE's and said WTF.....
Step 1. since we were on the way out I figured I would pick up some new batteries (we needed some anyway) so I replaced the batteries and NOT an F'in thing worked,so now there is a bulging vein in my forehead. I start button pushing and find out that the DIC is showing that my TPMS is not registered either. WTFx2!
step 2, Manual is no help and might as well be in spanish, since the remote is useless I can't re-register TPMS.
Step 3. Get home check forum and find out that I should have jumped the car from the ass-end and not from under the hood. So it looks like I will now have to go do the dealership to have my fobs zapped for a fee. WT.... no, this I understand for "tool" use, but damn that sucks.... I love my remote start, especially with the weather getting all nice and cool in the morning.

Sounds like your 3 yr old is into rides..
As far as changing batteries, I always hook up my Big charger to keep power in the system & them change the battery, it just helps not to have to re-set my radio stations & other etc..

And why is it that you can't jump from under the hood? You wouldn't think it would make a difference. The wire runs from the battery in the rear to the front... where you give it extra juice shouldn't matter.
And I just read my 2010 owners manual, starting on page 6-41. It walks you right thru jumping your hhr from the remote location under the hood. It clearly says
"You will not need to access your battery for jump starting. The vehicle has a remote positive (+) and a remote negative (-) jump starting terminal."
So what? Why are people reporting these issues?

I'm reporting it because my RKE's and TPMS's arn't working, and they were both fine before the battery was drained. apparently i need to have my BCM re-flashed. I am not excited about having to pay the dealer to do this. I don't understand the process myself but, my Turbo upgrade still works, why not the key fobs?
Any help would be great before I drag myself to the dealer tomorrow.

If you replaced the batteries in the fobs, make sure that you did not break the solder joints on the battery mount like everybody does the first time. You have to remove the circuit board completely from the case, then push the battery in/out. ANY lifting of the battery cage can be fatal until re-soldered.
I would unhook the battery of about 10 min. just to reset all the modules. maybe the body is locked up from low voltage. I have seen this happen before. its worth a try and its free. also check the fuses under the hood.
GM Roadside assistance jumped my car from under the hood. I have never had an issue. The battery died again the next am...so I jumped (underhood) and took it to the dealer for a new battery.
still no issues 20K later. .....they put the posts underhood to jump the car....not for looks. Odd yours had so many issues, sounds like you had other ground issues or something.
