I have grown to love my clunking trans. It just seems right with the character of the car. I have found that the harder and faster you shift the better it shifts. The only time I have had issues shifting into a gear is when I am plodding along. G.B.

 

My SS has this sound as well. I think it's in the linkage rather than anything to do with the gears or clutch. It may even be one of the engine or transmission mounts. In any case next dealer visit this will be one of the things on my list to check out.

And I disagree that it is normal to have a loud clunk because it is 'high performance.' The Tremec in my Ranger shifts smooth as butter!
