Jack- I know of at least a few members here get new SS motors under warranty.

I don't think it's a regular issue tho.

But what do I know, I only have a 2LT Panel.

My 2010 SS generally runs between 189 and 190 degrees. Hopefully these cracked blocks are a fluke. I sold my 1992 Sonoma GT p/u after the block cracked; but those 4.3L CPI motors were known for developing cracks up top in the rocker valley.

Another cracked block. 2008 HHR. The crack is near 3th cylinder. The car is only 90000 km. But versiion is not SS. It's 2.4 LE5.

Cracked block on 2008, too!

I just had a new engine put into my 2008 HHRSS. Seems that CHEVY ENGINEERING informed the Dealer that the 2.0 engines from 2006-2009 have a problem; there is a porosity problem with the block; they tend to crack between Cylinders 3 & 4. Mine did.
Solution: they installed a brand new 2010-up engine! (17 days away from the end of my Warranty!!!)
Just wanted to let everyone know that CHEVY admitted the problem. They may not want it widely known-- the 2009s are almost out of warranty-- so this is good to know.

It *is* an issue, according to Chevy Engineering. The 2006-2009 engines are affected; they re-did the 2010-up engines for correct the problem. Porosity in the block causes them to crack between #3 & #4.
