But for your 2005 Cobalt, you would be better served at a Cobalt forum. HHRs were not made in 2005, so there may be some real differences. Here is the Cobalt forum I linked to in your other thread https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/
That is a very basic thing. If you can't find it then you need to pay a mechanic. P0601 may mean the ECM/PCM is fried; any chance someone touched something under the hood with a jumper cable just before this started?
I had a mechanic look at and they said id have to go to the dealership to have it looked at, that they wouldnt do it and for the jumper cables to my knowledge no one has.
From what you have said; you need a new ECM and ICM. A good mechanic with expensive equipment should be able to handle it, but a dealer definitely could.
You might be able to get a used ECM programmed to your car on ebay, making that pretty much plug 'n play(except maybe needing a computer to sync the CKP). Replacing the ICM is plug 'n play.
If you don't understand that you need a pro to do it.
If i went to a dealership how much would it usually cost me to get it fixed if i already had the items versus not having them.
would something like this also be under the cars warrenty or no.
It likely would be two hours labor at whatever they charge per hour, but they may be reluctant to install parts that were not supplied by them. Call them and ask for an estimate?
Warranty on a 13 year old car? No. I would not even inquire with the dealer on that question.
