Error Codes :(

Coming home from work my check engine light came on. Had OnStar run a remote scan, and they told me two warnings came up regarding the ignition. Ignition was replaced in June before I bought the car under GM recall.

Scanned today using Tec2 and got the following codes

P0014 - which should be a failing exhaust solenoid
P0331 and P0332 - should be a failing knock sensor
B3055 and B3935 - could be because I put an aftermarket radio in (using gmos-lan-04 harness)

No codes regarding ignition. Also car won't remote start. Could all this be tied in?

Yes, with codes being generated, the remote start is automatically disabled.

The first three codes might be related - tackle the first one first - ie: replace the exhaust solenoid (easy 30 minute job)

GM P/N: 12655421 (if it was me, I'd stick with a genuine GM replacement rather than an after-market one that may or may not be equivalent to the latest GM version - note: the part has been revised three times so far at GM)

X2 for the solenoids I would change both while in in there!

Thanks fellas! I replaced the same solenoid on my LT when it hit around the 75K mark like my SS is at. Thanks for the part number Whopper! With components like this, I always stick with GM/Ac Delco.

I'm guessing all solenoids for the VVT ecotec are the same? Even if it's a 2.2, 2.4, or 2.0 Turbo?

Yup, from what we have seen, they all use the same ones.

Read post 301 if you have a 2.2 with VVT

This is on the Auto SS, so it's a 2.0 Turbo Oldblue.

Funny thing is I thought maybe I didn't tighten the gas cap all the way, so I adjusted that. Next morning check engine light went off and hasn't been on since. Scanned again with the Tec2 and the codes still came up though. Still replacing the Solenoids today to see if it removes the 3 P codes. Just to be safe, I'm still taking it back to the dealership who did the ignition recall to see if anything is failing.

Oh, I thought it was you 09 1LT , sorry.
The SS would be the same two solenoids one for the intake and another number for the exhaust.
But hey the old loose gas cap fixed it! strange the DIC didn't notify you to check gas cap!

The gas cap maybe totally unrelated to the CEL going off. If the CEL was being driven by say the P0014, the light may go off after a few drive cycles, if the error was intermittent.

From what I've seen, the P0010/11/13/14 codes will be intermittent initially - probably due to being contaminated by old/dirty etc. oil. Sometimes an oil/filter change will resolve the problem, but not necessarily depending on how badly it is contaminated. The other source of failure is out-of-spec resistance in the solenoid itself - I think 12 ohms is the normal spec - if it's an open circuit the code will be permanent of course.

Once you first downloaded the codes, did you then clear them with the scanner (which also turns off the CEL)?

I didn't clear the codes the first time I scanned.

Did replace the solenoids Tuesday, and so far no codes. Even was viewing the knock retard on the performance display, and once and a while I would see it move to 1 degree if I gave some gas after a dead stop. Looks like everything is okay!
