Front hub/bearing tolerances

Last year, I had both front hubs on my SS replaced. It's a 2010, with performance package with Brembos. First the right in the fall, when I had my snows put on (they swap 'em for free). Then the left when I had the snows taken off about five months later.

Now, I go to have the snows put back on and find that the wheel is hitting the the caliper on the the front left. Geniuses at the tire place blamed my brakes. Put the all seasons and stock rims back on. Replaced pads and rotors myself in front and realized that the inner pads were far more worn than the outers, on both sides. So the question is, could there be enough variation in new hubs to allow the wheel offset to vary by a couple mm? The Brembo caliper doesn't float so I would think that the hub position has to be pretty specific to keep the rotor centered in the caliper.

I'm a little puzzled. Also kind of wishing I had just done the hubs myself.

These guys show a specific set for the SS

https://www.1aauto.com/wheel-bearing...6/i/1ashs00929

Rockauto shows these

2009 CHEVROLET HHR 2.0L L4 Turbocharged Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly | RockAuto

No mention of the performance package requiring specific hubs.

If you scroll down in the rockauto results, you'll find the ACDelco FW301, for the J56 heavy duty brakes. Seems to also be for the JL9, so hard to say, but, yeah, they might have installed the wrong hub assembly.

Find out(maybe on your invoice) what part number they installed, post it up here.

I thought the difference was the mounting bolt pattern?

The big difference between 2.2/2.4 and 2.0 is number of splines. So they're not interchangeable.

The 2 ACDelco listings for 2.0 seem to have the same specs, though. So I'm now thinking the hubs should be correct. But let's see what part was installed.

Now, as a side note, many of our members have swapped out the SS non Brembo rotors, calipers and brackets for the Brembo rotors and calipers with now problems, so the hubs must not be any different in flange offset.

ITs GM we are talking about here, I am sure they didnt go through great lengths to change stuff up for the HHR SS, in facrt doesnt the HHR SS HUB have the same number of splines and size as the malibu from the same years?

Yes but also the same offset, so there is no difference then, in fact I’ve seen a Malibu Max around town fitted with Brembos and 18 inch SS rims.

I'm thinking more like an after market hub might have a sloppier tolerance for the offset? It goes on in one piece right? So there's not much to screw up in installation. The wheels my winter tires are on came from Tire Rack originally, they still sell them but no longer list them as compatible with SS with Brembos. Wondering if they ran into other problems with inconsistent fit.
I bought spacers that should allow me to put the winter rims back on for now. But that doesn't really address the root problem.

What is the part number for those rims? Or the rim size and offset?
I’m wondering how the left side hits but the right side didn’t.
