What do you all think about Syntec. I use it on my other cars, but I have never had a turbo, so I am not sure I want to try it an screw things up.

lmao! had this problem with the cobalt , dealer thought you needed to remove the supercharger to get to the oil filter... LOl just a extension and a large socket worked. I do belive the oil filter is in the same place on the lnf. Shouldn be to hard

The above is a very strange post.

To the OP, the manual recommends Mobil 1 5w/30, but any oil that meets GM6094M specification is acceptable.

You quoted the wrong GM Specification for synthetic oil. What you quoted is for "fossil" oil (you're probably looking at the wrong page in the Owners Manual....turn one more page).

Synthetic oil should meet GM 4718M.

Changed my oil this weekend as well.

Easy.

Car wen't right up my rhino ramps (no clearance issues) and I ordered the socket that XXL had posted in this thread.

I kind of dig the oil filter set up. Alot cleaner than unscrewing the filter from the bottom and getting oil on your hand. Seemed like you have to be a tad carefull re threading the filter cap back on to avoid cross threading.

filter is 5 bucks and the mobil 1 snthetic oil change is 60 at a local mobil 1 quick lube. I just had mine changed in my cobalt. They all use the drop in paper filter.

Watch it when you go to the dealer for oil changes. They filled mine first time with fossil oil and I had to have them change it again. Luckily I thought to ask before I left the shop. If they would have looked at the cap, it say's Mobil 1 right on it. To their credit though it was a free change and their first on an SS. Always ask!
