It would be good to know how many blown motors were absolutely stock. It seems that even the GMPP Stage 1 adds to the likelihood of a boom. And any other tune besides that one is at the mercy of the person with the computer (that is, you have no idea what you are getting - did they take out or move the rev limiter, for instance?). Additionally, i would like to know how many of the blown motors were in automatics. Not accusing anyone of anything, but it is impossible to overrev with the automatic unless the computer is messed up. This is not the case with a manual because if you downshift from 4th to 3rd and hit 1st by mistake and let the clutch out, you get expensive noises (the Ecotec will not tolerate revs much above redline in stock form).

If you down shift from 4-3 and hit 1 , You should'nt be driving a stick. IMO

I'll hit 75000 miles in the next week , Other than the B.S. Codes that pop up due to the worlds most touchy computer(and my intake). This engine is almost bullet proof. This car has been beatin more than all the cars i've owned in 31 years of driving. It is as soild as the day i bought it , engine wise.

HAH! And I suppose you want them to tell you that they drive it like my 77 year old grandma drivers her Buick.

And i'd think you'd hear parts leaving your driveline, rolling down the road behind you , After a 4-1 shift.

glad to hear that most of us are still problem free, but it bothers me a little when i read threads of people's car with the engine being torn down or waiting on turbos because it failed. just saying, beginning to see these stories more often than before.

Ah geez, this eventually happens on EVERY car forum. Be happy you have a generally reliable car that most people have few problems with. For "blown motor" fun, check out the Boxster and RX8 forums. Good times.

I have 85K on mine and I keep the oil changed and keep inspect it once a week to make sure its not leaking anything. I drive about 500-600 miles a week and with a 5 speed its easy to let her rip and beyond a trubo it's been good. just like any other mass produced item it has a shelf life - when the warranty tanks... LMAO

People have problems that dont take care of the smallest things... wait 60 seconds when you start the car wait a little before killing it.. change your oil on time and please put premium in the car.. i took my car off the lot with 34 miles now ihave 50K and no engine problems at all... my car has been tuned on a pretty agressive tune for over 30K now and it gets beat to **** daily... dunno what to tell you guys
