How to split open a mu3 transmission ona HHR SS 2009
i am trying to split open my mu3 transmission as I have to replace the 2nd gear and the 1-2 syncro.
Does anybody know how to split the case open? I’ve seen the YouTube videos and I also got the GM service manual for my car, but it skips one major step.
How to remove the shift rods that come through the case? And does it need to be in 3rd gear or reverse? If any body can help that would be great. Or does anyone know of a shop that will replace the gear and syncros for me that would be great?
I live in Peterborough, Ontario Canada
thanks

Do you have the gear pullers? I made a cursory look through the shop manual, I don't see any through bolts. Maybe this is what you need? It indicates that you pull the case off of the output shaft using the special tool. After removing the clutch to case bolts.
From what I see 1st gear.
From what I see 1st gear.

Thanks for all the input
Thanks to everyone for all there input. It’s been a long painful battle with the clutch. After having the tranny out of the HHR 3 times it’s finally back in and working like a champ. If anyone ever ask for a company in Peterborough Ontario area never let them take it to Arty’s transmission shop in Lakefield. I took him 3 months and I had to take it to a second shop to have it fixed right. While it was there there found so many parts not bolted in, mixed bolts and broken parts. As for my clutch I can’t thank KY clutch in Kentucky. They went way out of there way to help me get my car back on the road. I do t know if I could have done it without them.
Thanks KY Clutch
