Ign. switch recall- Warning

Got a recall letter couple weeks ago[actually two recall letters], but did'nt follow up on getting it replaced.
Well DUH! Yesterday, when I pulled into the driveway, key frozen in ign., would not shut engine off. Hauled A, over to nearest dealership[20 miles], and had to leave SS overnight. They replaced switch, washed SS, and now I'm back in business.
Moral to all this: You get the recall letter about anything, don't mess around, get it taken care of, or you might end up stuck somewhere. "Moon"

Does this recall affect all years/models of the HHR?

My 06 had the issue. Maybe when assembling the cars in Mexico, they found a bunch of old parts in stock and just follow the steps to the installation. Since the HHR was being fazed out, they wanted to use up the old stuff.

Thanks moonsign! I was going to wait to get mine done, BUT NO! Now you have put the curse on me! Guess I'll get it fixed next week when I'm off on vacation.
( wasn't going anywhere. Just was going to work around the house anyway)
So thanks again for altering my vacation plans. What the heck. Might get the radio replaced under warranty while I'm there.

Note: All the above is just me having a little fun with moonsign. Humor is fun!

Just a FYI....

Notice in the link that sleeper provided that it indicates in great big RED letters, "THIS IS NOT A RECALL".

So think accordingly.

Two letters I got in the mail, from two different dealerships, plainly stated "Important recall notice" in big red letters. Campain I.D. 12045.
I had mine fixed by Dublin Chevrolet, Dublin Ca. at no charge, and they even washed the SS for me. "Moon"

Hey guys- (my bad), It seems I only posted 1/2 of the info. Since I no longer have Premium member status, I can't access the TSB & recall stuff.. (my excuse).. Sorry for the confusion.

Here's the bottom line below

As far as why some are in it and some aren't on different models only GM knows this.

@5speed4, if you would like, I could look up recall information for you vehicle. Send me a private message with your VIN and I will get this done for you.
