Normal Temp range

My SS runs fro 194 to 206 degrees regularly. Is this normal? I was going to put a lower temp thurmostat in it as I thought it rund too hot.

Though I own a 2.4 this is exctly what that runs. Most engines operate best at around that temp.

Newer engines run this hot, it's normal...... It's also part of the design, you may not get expected results with a lower temp T-stat as the computer adjusts for an engine that's not fully "warmed up".

My 2.4L runs at 194* and the fans don't even kick on......

HRBob-don't put a lower temp one in, these motors need to run hot. Going to work this morning at 5am @ 52 degrees out side & no NY traffic was running 178-180 temps. Yesterday @ 82 degrees out side & major PITA traffic with top speed of 20 (maybe the reason so little SS's here!) and not using AC temps were 197-223. Not worried at the moment, but have the gurgling noise in the heater core though at cold startup. Added 4oz of antifreeze, level in coolant bottle doing the right thing with hot level & cold level, but I have to keep an eye on things because I think my block was made within the time frame of the wounderful "lets not seal the halfs of the block together properly and see what happens" motor.

I would think that temp range is normal for where you are.

Block seal issue? Not aware of that.. Mines an early car. It was a GM show vehicle here on the left coast, so it was built to be at the shows when the car was intro'ed
