Oil Problem?? maybe, maybe not

Hopefully ChvMgr can answer this,

during a recent oil change, I checked the dipstick before draining the old oil, and it was mostly dry for thre or four plunges. I was a little worried, until draining the oil and making sure I still had 5qts. more or less. would the slight angle of my drivway have caused that off of a dip-stick reading, or something blocked?

It's always best to check on a level surface and after the motor hasn't been running for 30 minutes or so. Otherwise you won't get an accurate reading on the dip stick.

Thats what I did, made me feel alot better, I thought I might have been a quart or so low. Not the case, just angled driveway.

As was said already; level parking and at least 10 minutes should be okay but longer is preferred.

Thanks MGR! I usually wait half hour or longer. I know the quick change places do it quickly, I just don't like exposing hot parts to cold oil, so I do it myself. We just moved to a new house, and I guess the driveway thrwe me off.

you wont get EVERY oz you put in back or else the oil is not doing its job.
