Ahh. Memories. My 1st car was a 68 Bug. Parents bought it new. It got handed down through 3 kids. Being the youngest, I finally got it in 1977.

I started with a '62 bug in '73 then in the '80 I went to '68 and '69 Karmann-Ghias for upwards of 100K each. I can't count the number of time I pulled engines out of those, and then the weird stories involving broken shifters and broken clutch cables.
