One second grind on cold start.

Hello everyone. I'm looking for some help in this. When I start my HHR, after two seconds of running it makes a one second "flutter/grind" sound. This only happens when it's been sitting for at least a couple hours. It sounds worse when sitting over night. I'm going to try and pin point the area. My car isn't hesitating, idling rough or bogging at stop lights. I just have this weird one second sound that I don't like! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Tyler Harvey,

I'm sorry you are having this issue. Have you considered having this issue addressed at the dealer?

Have you started using a different oil and filter? Sounds like it could be your throw out bearing.

He has an auto so no throw out bearing.

I do notice something that might be what the OP described when I start the car... I think it is the auxiliary brake vacuum pump cycling on so it has proper vacuum for the brakes. I wouldn't call it a grind, but I do notice a noise and a short-duration drop in the idle right after starting the car. It's done it for a long time.
