overheating

overheating

I have 08 hhr ss 2.0 motor running hot while sitting at idle ,also noticed cooling fan not coming on to cool when reaching cut on temp any advice out there

starts out normal but will climb to 230's

oh damn yeah thats a little high. I never saw mine over 210. Check the resevoir and make sure there is coolant in there bud

Any kinks in the hoses? When you replaced the thermostat, was ALL the air bled out of the system?

My cooling fan went bad after 24,000 miles. I was glad it went bad before warranty expired it was a 700.00 repair

If the fan is not coming on, then it is probably the fan itself or a relay or something like that. I believe the fan will come on at 216F if it is working properly. Mine will get that hot if idling but of course the fan then turns on and cools it off.

my relay went bad after 45,000 glad i got an extended warranty.So my cooling fan and cooling fan relay all have gone bad.
